Herpetofauna donates €3000 to 4 projects

2 April 2025

The Herpetofauna Foundation has recently made significant donations to four of their important projects, which will greatly contribute to the protection and conservation of reptiles and amphibians worldwide.

The Cahuita Turtle Rescue in Costa Rica has received €1000. This project focuses on protecting the leatherback turtle by securing nests and incubating eggs in their hatchery. Young turtles are then released, ensuring a higher percentage safely reach the sea.

ARCO Spain, located near the southern Spanish village of Tabernas, has also received €1000. This project is dedicated to the conservation of turtles, tortoises, and other reptiles. They conduct extensive research and provide shelter for confiscated animals from the illegal trade.

The Snakebite Survival Fund has received €500. This fund aims to prevent snakebites and provide life-saving treatments. They offer education, train snake handlers, and financially support victims for their rehabilitation.

The Orinoco Crocodile Project has received €500. This project contributes to the restoration of the natural population of the Orinoco crocodile by collecting eggs from the wild and incubating them artificially. Young crocodiles are transferred to a crocodile farm in collaboration with the local community.

These donations will help continue the crucial work of these projects!
