Education

The Herpetofauna Foundation believes that education is fundamental to conservation, starting at an early age. By educating about misunderstood species like reptiles and amphibians, we build awareness and encourage active participation in conservation and research initiatives.

Many reptiles and amphibians are also part of private collections and zoo exhibits. We offer educational outreach in these settings to ensure that these animals are kept in the best possible conditions, thereby maintaining their optimal care.

In addition, we host small-scale symposia and workshops for professionals and trainees.

Presentaties

Primary education

Children are a fantastic audience for educational programs. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn create the perfect foundation for raising awareness. We offer several opportunities tailored for primary school students.

Schildpaddenproject (5)

Turtle Project

We offer a unique turtle project for schools that focuses on sustainability, recycling, and the protection of animals and nature. This project lasts between two to four weeks and can be tailored to fit the school’s schedule through consultation.

Presentations

We offer the opportunity to visit your school with animals and specially developed presentations that focus on themes related to animals and nature. We are happy to assist you with any questions regarding these opportunities.

CityCleanUp

City Cleanup

These days, many streets are scattered with litter. Through this project, we hope to inspire children to think about waste in a new way.

Secondary education

Students in secondary education often work with specific themes, requiring a different approach compared to primary school education. With our extensive experience we are able to create customised educational programs, which may involve hands-on projects or interactive presentations. Additionally, we offer online lessons where experts are available to respond to students' questions about these intriguing animals.

Higher education

For students and educators in animal care, animal management, veterinary assistance, and related fields, we provide the opportunity to organise guest lectures or short courses on specialised topics in herpetology. These sessions can focus on subjects such as animal care, proper handling, preventive health, regulations, wildlife management, and conservation efforts.

Our expertise allows students and educators to engage in hands-on, practical learning and ask questions relevant to the field they wish to pursue or are already working in. Additionally, all guest lectures can be enriched by live animals on-site, if there is a need or interest.

The Herpetofauna Foundation can also offer guest lectures to students in related fields at universities or colleges. Topics can include animal welfare, ecology, ethology, biology, herpetology, toxicology, and veterinary medicine. We can also provide speakers for symposia and conferences organised by educational institutions, focusing on specific themes. One of our specialists will present the lecture on-site.

Personalised visits

Our educational programs are often tailored to individual needs, making them a perfect fit for thematic school programs and elective courses. As a result, we can always create a custom package that suits your requirements. Feel free to contact us through the contact page.
