CityCleanUp

City Cleanup

In addition to the larger Turtle Schools Project, Stichting Herpetofauna offers a smaller, easily organized initiative for groups at primary schools, scout troops, or after-school programs.

Many streets are littered with waste like plastic wrappers, bottle caps, cans, and cigarette butts. This project aims to raise children’s awareness about litter and encourage them to take a more active role in caring for their environment.

The project starts with a group presentation explaining what waste is and how many forms pollution can take. Pollution isn’t just about litter; light and noise can also have significant impacts on animals.

Schools can purchase a colorful activity book that complements the presentation. This book includes activities for students to complete in class or in groups, as well as projects they can take home to deepen their learning.

After the presentation, children get hands-on by collecting litter in their neighborhood. We provide special collection bags, which can be sponsored like a walk-a-thon; each filled bag earns a donation.

At the end of the cleanup, we count the filled bags, and the funds raised go toward nature conservation projects. To thank them for their efforts, the children are rewarded with a fun animal show afterward.

This project offers children a valuable opportunity to learn and make a difference in their local environment.

If your school, scout troop, or after-school program would like to participate, please feel free to contact us! Please note that we are currently offering this project only in the Netherlands and Belgium.
