Jesse is a Dutch herpetologist with a lifelong passion for the natural world whose work is broadly applied to the conservation of biodiversity. After graduating cum laude from Wageningen University, he spent several years performing research in endangered tropical ecosystems, and earned his PhD studying the effects of chytrid fungus on amphibian populations.

With his research, he hopes to help understand how biodiversity is distributed and responds to environmental change to aid in the protection of global wildlife. Currently, Jesse is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at Trier University in Germany and is the Tropical Andes program manager at Habitats Conservation in Luxembourg.
